The OEP aims to ensure quality, transparency and reproducibility in energy system research. It provides a way for modelers to publish proper documentation of data, code and underlying assumptions. The OEP is a community effort and is constantly evolving.

Background
Apparently, the platform was conceived by Reiner Lemoine Institute and is now being handed over to the Open Energy Modelling Initiative, see also Relation of the OpenEnergyPlatform (OEP) and openmod initiative - Management - Open Energy Modelling Initiative.
